weird that’s the first I’ve seen it. I’d gather that it’s because we’re a mixed race comprised of Black, caucasion, Indian and Asian. But we sure as hell aren’t treated as white.
This was on a medical form… but more importantly…. the same question was on the recent United States Census. This question has been around for a very long time… longer time than anyone could link it to genetics. My great grandmother, born around 1895 was listed as “white” on her birth certificate… and so was my grandmother, born 1912. Which was strange because they were technically born in “Mexico” because Arizona was not part of the US at that time.
The other thing is… they ask if you are Asian… but they don’t list the different types of “Asian” ie Korean, Chinese, Japanese, one or two.
